We have been here at LSV for one week now. Tomorrow the family camp will begin and 26 local children will come for the next five days. We will have English class, sing songs, crafts and sports together as a big group. We are also going to split the kids up into groups of five and each family (we have five families that are volunteering) will get together with their small group in the family units (where we are living). There we will do things together like share about our families, cook, do skits, play games, etc.
The LSV staff are excited about having this camp, this is the first time for this so we are the guinea pigs. It's going to be interesting, I'm a little nervous at how it is going to work. I like details and we don't have a lot. Because this is a new thing we will have to see how things work and go from there.
Jeremy & I are in charge of teaching the camp song "Lean On Me". I'm actually not too nervous about that, I taught songs before. In the afternoon the campers will be coming into our home and we will have 3 hours together, this is where I get nervous. We are to have a family sharing time where we talk about our families and introduce them. Then we will allow the campers to talk about their families and introduce them. After that we are to work out what we want to do on Friday for the graduation program. I think we are going to work on doing a skit . . . we shall see. I'm just nervous about having five 9 year olds (plus our own children) in our house for 3 hours straight! Sounds like it could be pretty crazy!
