Meeting the LSV Children

Today was a bit less busy. After our normal routine of TWA, breakfast and corporate intercession we had a couple hours free. I was able to get some laundry done before we met with the team leader again.

After lunch and a nap the LSV (Living Stone Village) staff arranged for us to meet with the LSV children living here on campus. We have seen them around but haven't formal met. This afternoon was a relaxing and fun time for us to introduce ourselves.

There are 14 LSV children here on campus ranging in age between 12 to 18. The children are all orphans that also have limbs missing, hepititis B, severe burn scars or other physical disabilities. The children are very shy and cautious to whom they build realationships with due to the much hurt they have experienced in the past and present.

We had a great time playing games with them and talking. You can tell they are very shy but really like to laugh. I had fun leading the game "Steal the Bacon".

The children do not really want to help with the camp next week because they don't the local kids to see them and know they are orphans. They are embaressed and we want to be sensitive to their feelings. As a team we tried to come up with ideas for the LSV kids to be involved and I thought it would be extremely helpful for them to take care of our young ones during camp. Unfortuntly I'm not sure if it's going to work for our family beacuse right now Xiao Bin is extremly clingy and very scared of strangers. Also the kids area bit afraid of Luo Yi everytime he coughs or sneezes (he is still recovering from broncitis). Hopefully BinBin will warm up to the kids and Luo Yi gets better quickly!!
